Years ago I had thought I watched the worst romantic dramady of all time
in the film The Story of Us. A film starring Bruce Willis and Michelle
Pfeiffer as a married couple at odds. They spend the entire film
bickering and trying to reconcile their relationship while outside
influences I.E. friends and family members butt their misguided advice
into the fiasco.
The Break Up is essentially the same film but stars Vince Vaughn and
Jennifer Anniston as the bickering couple, not married, but all together
bickering. You have Vaughn’s buddy Jon Favreau who has starred in a
number of films with Vaughn as well as directed films starring the
unimpressive cast of characters.
Basically the movie was an awkward mess. It would be like if you were
over visiting friends and all they did was yell and scream at each other
and there was no door with which to escape them.
I took advantage of the buy 1 get 1 free ticket sale at Fandago and I
still feel as if I was duped out of my money. The film that is labeled
as a comedy offers few laughs and worse falls short of an ending as if
the writer just decided that he had something better to do then end this
horrible film on a light or even hard hearted hope. I give this film a 0
on the 1 to 10 scale. Avoid.
