If you ever
thought about working as a real estate agent, there is a lot to learn in
order to pass the test in order to become a licensed agent.
Not only has
online schools become plentiful, they are also diverse. Online schools
are available to help train you for becoming a real estate agent. You
will teach you all the real estate laws and terms to help you pass the
licensing test with ease. Make sure that you find courses that cover
your state laws as they can vary from state to state.
Look for schools
that are DRE (Department of Real Estate) approved or meet the state
requirements for your education. Real estate license courses online are
convenient to help in the transition from your current employment while
offering a comprehensive study of real estate. By becoming
knowledgeable about real estate laws and terms you will not only pass
the licensing test, but will also become a better real estate agent.
Just like any
business, there are numerous expenses involved in selling properties. You will need to have money set
aside to help pay for school tuition. Other expenses include licensing
exam fees, fees to join the local Multiple Listing Service (MLS), and
even more fees to join the local Board of Realtors. There are also
ongoing fees with the local Board of Realtors that you can expect to pay
for on a monthly or quarterly basis. You will also need to
purchase insurance of omissions that will add to your expenses.
You need to have a
reliable vehicle that has extra insurance coverage for business travel
because you will be driving people around town. Gas will be an expense
that could add up to a sizeable amount. Depending if you work
independently or with a group there will be office expenses too that
will vary.
It is recommended
that you have saved up at least 6 months of living expenses to help in
the transition of becoming a real estate agent. Initially you will not
make an income even if you are a great agent. It can take 30 60 days
for a house to close in escrow before you finally get paid. Also being
new on the block you will have a more difficult time closing your first
sales.
Chances are you
will work in the evenings and weekends. This is because most people are
able to look at homes during their time off from work. You will also
work a lot of hours to close your first real estate transactions. There
may be other opportunities for regular work day real estate agents, such
as in commercial real estate. Commercial real estate may require more
experience and training to participate. In every real estate
transaction you will likely be working on the clients schedule more than
your own.
Being a great real
estate agent happens when you offer the service that your client
needs. That includes helping them find the right property for their
needs and their budget, helping them get the paperwork in order and
doing it in a professional manner to make it a smooth transaction.
Being a good listener, being organized and being helpful will get you
the referrals that will build your business for the future.
Being
knowledgeable about real estate will give you the confidence and ability
to do your job well. It will also take a lot of commitment and time to
get your career started. If you dont work hard at it, you will
probably
not make a lot of money. A career as a real estate agent can be
financially rewarding if you are determined and dedicated.
