Apple releases a
new version of Apple Remote Desktop 3 which is optimized for the
Intel-based Macs and has over 50 new features. Spotlight, Dashboard and
Automator are some of the Apple Remote Desktop 3 features.

Desktop 3, we’ve delivered powerful innovations that make it even easier
and more affordable to manage Macs,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s
senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Great new
features such as remote Spotlight searching and customized Automator
actions take advantage of innovations in Tiger and make Apple Remote
Desktop 3 a valuable tool for anyone managing more than one Mac.”
The Apple Remote
Desktop 3 allows for ultra-fast searching on multiple Tiger systems.
There are over 30 Automator actions that will make repetitive
administration tasks complete by themselves. There is a Dashboard
Widget which has easy viewing of all the remote computers when they are
online.
The Apple Remote
Desktop 3 will also report of any computer problems on any of the
multiple systems. There is an 11 time speed increase in copying of
files over a 1000BaseT network compared to the Apple Remote Desktop 2
software. You are able to drag and drop from local and remote computers
and easily copy and paste images and text as well.
The Apple Remote
Desktop 3 has a suggested retail price of $299 for up to 10 systems.
The unlimited connection version is $499. This software works with Mac
OS X v10.3.9 or later. It is intended for use over a network. You can
purchase at Apple’s online store or through an Apple Authorized
Reseller.
