Toyota Halts Sales Of 8 Models – List Includes Camry and Corolla

(Best Syndication News) Toyota has halted sales of 8 models of their vehicles (see list below). The automaker says the action was necessary until the problem with the gas pedal is remedied. The announcement stunned many dealerships.

Initially Toyota claimed the floor mats caused the pedals to stick to the floor. But since then there have been cases where the floor mats have been removed and the pedal still malfunctioned. The problem may not lie in the pedal per se, but in the injection system. Either way, the company has suspended sales of some of their best selling cars.

West Virginia Attorney General Suing Capital One Bank and Four other related Debt Collection Agencies

[Best Syndication News] The Attorney General Darrell McGraw filed a lawsuit against Capital One Bank (USA) N.A. along with four other companies because of tactics of debt collection that was deceptive as well as conducting unlawful practices. The legal filing was in the Circuit Court of Mason County, West Virgina.

The other companies named in the lawsuit are Capital One Services, LLC, Capital One Services II, LLC, Capital One Services III, LLC, and COSI Receivables Management which are corporations that provide debt collection services for credit cards that were issued by Capital One Bank.

In the complaint filed there were numerous violations of the West Virginia consumer protection laws. According to the lawsuit, they are claiming that Capital One would solicit customers with the disguise of new credit, when it really was a debt repayment plan. The new credit offered was $1.00 extra than the outstanding debt that they were required to transfer the entire account balance to a new credit card. In order to see an increase in the amount of credit line they would have to pay off the existing balance first.

Public access to Big Bear Valley temporarily closed

Snow Closes Roads

Public safety authorities in San Bernardino County have immediately restricted access to the Big Bear Valley to residents and supply and emergency vehicles until further notice, based on emergency proclamations made by both Gov. Schwarzenegger and San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Chairman Gary Ovitt. Non-residents will not be allowed into the Big Bear Valley until the restrictions have been lifted.

Difficult road conditions and droves of visitors have strained food and fuel supplies and emergency services. An emergency shelter is already housing more than 20 visitors who ran out of fuel or otherwise could not get back down the mountain.

Home Sales improving Slowly in December from Previous Year Numbers

[BestSyndication News] The National Association of Realtors released a report today saying that annual sales for homes improved in 2009 with 5,156,000 existing home sales. This was up 4.9 percent from the previous year of 4,913,000 home for sale.

This has been the first signs of recovery for the real estate market with gains that hasn't been seen annually since 2005.

The national median existing home price for all housing for the month of December 2009 was $178,300.

The real estate market is still recovering and there was 32 percent of the sales last month that came from distressed properties.

California Bay–Delta meetings being held by the National Research Council

[Best Syndication News] Meetings are scheduled January 24th - 26th to discuss the California Bay – Delta about the environmental stability as well as if it can be a reliable state water supply. The meetings are being held at the University of California, Davis.

The goals of the National Research Council is to conduct a study to answer scientific questions if there is “reasonable and prudent alternatives” that would incur less impact on other water uses in comparison to the wildlife and biological fish species and their habits. They also will discuss if time permits, the effects of other stressors for other federally listed and at-risk species that also reside in the Bay-Delta waters.

At the meetings, there will be presentations from scientist, management experts, and possibly members of Congress. There is a public comment section that will allow members of the community to address the committee.
