New 395 Freeway Getting Closer For High Desert – Oak Hills Phelan Adelanto And Victorville Affected – Three Lanes Each Direction

Proposed Routes

(Best Syndication) There has been a tug-of war between the State of California, the City of Victorville, and the County of San Bernardino concerning a planned 395 Freeway, but the project may be closer to fruition. Plans were discussed at a meeting at the Quail Valley Middle School in Phelan on February 26th in an effort to elicit comments.

The city of Victorville does not want to turn the current Highway-395 into a freeway. In fact they have continued to develop around the current street in an effort to stop the project at that location. The State and County are now considering alternate routes, while not completely eliminating that option.

They have been considering alternates that would start somewhere around Oak Hills. They presented three options for a 22-mile freeway between Hesperia and Adelanto. This was their first step towards conducting an Environmental Impact Report (EIR). It is hoped that once the route is declared, that building will stop along it. When completed it should be a 44-mile stretch between Hesperia and Kraemer Junction.

(Best Syndication) The local Coconuts night club was closed down Friday afternoon by the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) of California. Daily Press reporter Katherine Rosenberg says that the new owner will remodel the club and reopen on St. Patrick’s Day as a banquet facility.

Coconuts was closed down for 10 separate violations related to the sale of alcohol. One of the stranger violations was serving “poisonous liquor” after insects were found in the bottle.

But the closing has taught new co-owner Ronald Mather to take things in stride, according to Rosenberg. “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade”, Mather said.
