(Best Syndication News) - The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the voluntary recall of Nature’s Deli Chicken Jerky Dog Treats because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. Kasel Assocated Industries out of Denver, Colorado are the makers of the dog treats.
Dog owners can also be at risk for being infected from handling the dog treats. They should wash their hand thoroughly after handling the dog treats. Humans infected with Salmonella can have symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and fever. In some cases, the bacteria can spread to cause arterial infections, endocarditis, muscle pain, arthritis, urinary tract problems, and eye irritation. Consumers who have become ill may need to seek the help of a doctor.
Dogs may also become ill with Salmonella too. Symptoms of an infection can be difficult to detect, but the pet may become lethargic, or have diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. If the dog has these symptoms after they consumed the recalled treats, pet owners should contact a veterinarian for help. The infected dog could become a carrier and not display any symptoms. The infection could even be transmitted from the pet to humans.
