(Best Syndication News) Unexpectedly, two patients suffering from inoperable prostate cancer survived after doctors administered a new treatment followed by surgery. Not only are they surviving, according to researchers at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, they are “cancer free”. The doctors can not detect any cancer in their bodies.
After being diagnosed with inoperable prostate cancer in California, Roger Nelson and his wife traveled back to Minnesota for treatment. Roger was made aware of an experimental therapy. This therapy was thought to be his best option and he opted for it.

(Best Syndication News) A new test may help doctors determine how aggressive a patient’s prostate cancer is. Researchers at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center have identified a panel of small molecules, or metabolites, that can be used to help decide treatment options. One of the metabolites, sarcosine, was a better indicator of advancing cancer than the traditional prostate specific antigen (PSA) test (see video below).
Some cases of prostate cancer are over treated while others may be under treated. “We end up overtreating our patients because physicians don’t know which tumors will be slow-growing. With this research, we have identified a potential marker for the aggressive tumors,” says senior study author Arul Chinnaiyan, M.D., Ph.D.

If cancer is a possibility, it is your doctor’s responsibility to order the necessary tests to accurately and quickly diagnose your cancer. The faster your cancer is diagnosed, the more quickly you can begin treatment and increase your chance of survival. Here are some tests that should be run if you suspect cancer:
Skin cancer
If your doctor thinks you have melanoma, he or she should take a biopsy from the area around the melanoma and send it to a pathology lab for analysis. If your biopsy shows melanoma, you may need to have more tests, like another biopsy or a lymph node dissection to determine whether the cancer has spread to your lymph nodes.
Breast cancer

A cancer diagnosis is always frightening, but today many types of cancer can be beat if they are caught early. When cancer has been misdiagnosed or diagnosis is delayed that window of opportunity can be lost forever. The treatments required are more harsh and can become deadly themselves. In some cases diagnosis is delayed for so long that treatment is no longer an option at all. In most cases failure to diagnose cancer is medical malpractice. If you have lost a loved one to cancer that was misdiagnosed or undetected you may be entitled to compensation through a wrongful death lawsuit.
How cancer goes undetected
A large part of the routine doctor’s visits are checkups meant to provide early detection of cancer and other life-threatening conditions. Common ways in which cancer is overlooked or misdiagnosed include:

Volunteering is an essential part of modern day society, with both organisations and individuals depending on the voluntary work of others. Indeed, volunteers form the base of most charitable organisations and without them, charities would not be able to offer the support and care they currently do.
Today, there are millions of charities across the globe; each having been set up to help those in need. Consequently there is now a huge range of services on offer for people who are affected by such things as natural disasters, abuse or terminal illness.
And, without such aid, many simply could not cope. Finding out you have a terminal illness like cancer, for example, can radically change your life. Whilst some are able to deal with the fact they have an incurable disease, many are devastated by the news and can be left feeling alone and scared. Therefore, the role a volunteer plays in helping people get to grips with cancer is vital.
