Linux Mint is based on Gnome 3, but has been configured with the unique user interface. The new update provides more background images for the desktop. The Mint Gnome Shell Extensions (MGSE) works on top of Gnome 3 and is configurable. There are also two new themes for the desktop called Mint-Z and Mint-Z-Dark.

MATE is part of the new release. This lets users run both versions on Gnome on the same computer system. It is on the DVD release of Linux Mint 12.

The high-end super-slim laptops start at $999.99. The Asus ZenBook laptop is ultra-thin and weighs in at only 2.4 pounds. The thickness ranges between 0.2 inches and 0.7 inches. The Zenbook will automatically start saving all the program work if the battery is down to 5 percent. That way you will not lose your work.

There are different screen sizes available for the Zenbooks. The displays come in 11.6 inch and 13.3 inch configurations.
