Disney’s ‘Destination: Cars Land’ Float to appear in the 2013 Rose Parade
(Best Syndication News) – Workers are applying the final touches to Disneyland Resort’s float as it gets ready to appear in the 124th Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. This year, Disney's "Destination: Cars Land" float will feature Lightning McQueen, Sally, and more of the characters from the Pixar animated film Cars.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) based their latest design on the Disney California Adventure Park's newest attraction called Cars Land, which opened in June 2012. The float will also feature a replica of the Cars Land park attraction.
The Disney float will be displayed on a California shaped platform, and will recreate the Radiator Springs town where the "Cars" story is set. It will have 45 animated parts on the 125-foot long float, complete with water and smoke details. Live performers will also entertain parade watchers. Following behind the 36-foot tall float is Mater, the tow truck.
Disney has been involved with the Tournament of Roses since 1938. When the “Destination: Cars Land” float appears in the parade, Disney will have accomplished 75 years of continued participation with the Tournament of Roses in Pasadena.
The 2013 Rose Parade (sometimes referred to as "The Rose Bowl Parade") theme this year is “Oh the Places You’ll Go” and is scheduled to air at 8 a.m. (Pacific Standard Time) on January 1, 2013. The TV channels that will air the parade include ABC, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, KTLA5, NBC, RFD-TV and Univision. The local KTLA station will be covering the event starting as early as 6:00 a.m. (PST) giving a behind the scenes look at the event.
