Kia Optima and Rondo Vehicle Recall announced for Air Bag Clock Spring Contact Assembly Repair
(Best Syndication News) - The driver’s side air bag on certain model years of Kia Optima or Rondo vehicles could fail to deploy in an accident, which has prompted a recall announcement from the Department of Transportation’s NHTSA. Approximately 145,755 vehicles are involved in this recall.
The clock spring contact in the driver’s side air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) overtime could become damaged causing a potential failure of the air bag to deploy during a car accident.
Certain Kia Optima vehicles with the model years 2006 – 2008, and Kia Rondo vehicles with the model years 2007-2008 are included in this recall. The recalled Kia Optima vehicles were manufactured between September 29, 2005 and January 29, 2008. The recalled Kia Rondo vehicles were manufactured between September 13, 2006 and March 21, 2008.
Kia Motor Corporation will begin the safety recall during March 2012 and will contact vehicle owners about how to get the free repair to the air bag clock spring. Kia vehicle owners can also contact Kia customer service center toll-free at 1-800-333-4542 about the NHTSA recall campaign number SC094.
