Yahoo! to broadcast Tom Hanks’ ‘Electric City’ Animated Series Online

(Best Syndication News) - Yahoo! announced Monday that they will be partnering with Playtone and Reliance Entertainment to have exclusive online rights to broadcast the Tom Hanks’ animated series called “Electric City.” The animated series is a 90-minute long science fiction portrayal of a future society. Tom Hanks created and wrote the story and he stars in it.

The animated story offers an interactive experience for viewers. There will be behind-the-scenes programming and interactive games. The idea is to create a mystery and puzzle that will have viewers wanting to dig for more information.

The story will be broken up into shorter segments. “Electric City” is a story based on a world that fell apart, except for this city that represents peace and security. The city turns out to be less than perfect, with secret police and corruption. Hot topics such as energy consumption, freedom of information, and the criminal justice system are interwoven into the story. Symbols and metaphors are hidden throughout "Electric City" for those looking for other clues.

Yahoo! did not announce when this animated series will become available online. However, the Chicago Tribune reported that “Electric City” would become available sometime this spring. The episodes will be in 3-4 minute video clips with 20 segments planned, explained the newspaper.
