Software Update announced for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi Tablet
(Best Syndication News) - Samsung Mobile announced a major software release for the WiFi-only version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet. The new software will include TouchWiz UX, which is a customizable user interface. Samsung will release the software for Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners starting on August 5, 2011.
The new software will let the user pick from widgets and mini applications that they use often. The new interface will also allow for multi-tasking. The Samsung Media Hub service has also been revamped. There will be support for the Adobe Flash Player 10.3.
TouchWiz UX was designed for the larger tablet designs. The features of TouchWiz UX include Live Panel, Mini Mode Tray, Clipboard, Indicator Quick Panel, and Photo Editor.
Live Panel is a viewer to get information like the news, weather, social networking site notices, and photo gallery access on the home screen of the tablet.
The Mini Mode Tray is a shortcut to the most frequently used applications such as the Task Manager, Calendar, Pen Memo, Music, and Calculator. This tray is formatted in a pop-up window so that the user can easily multi-task.
Clipboard is a copy-and-paste utility that will make it easier to share photos and website URLs with others via email or social networking websites.
The Indicator Quick Panel is for setting up sound, brightness, and other settings. It can also quickly toggle to either turn on or off the Wi-Fi or notifications.
The Photo Editor is a simple utility that will let the tablet owner rotate, crop, or adjust color settings on a digital photo.
Additionally, the new software release will also include the Samsung Media Hub, which is a Movie and TV streaming video service. Users can purchase or rent movies or TV shows to watch on the Galaxy Tab. The tablet has a HDMI connector that can connect to televisions to watch on the big screen. The Samsung Media Hub service will gives you up to five devices registered to see the content with one single purchase transaction.
Social Hub service will also be included in the software. The Social Hub service is an aggregator for email, instant messaging, and social networking websites. It will also help keep contacts and a calendar. You would only have to stop here to get caught with contacts coming in from many different sources.
Preloaded apps included in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 software updates include Amazon Music Cloud Player, Amazon Kindle, and Zynga’s Words with Friends game.
There will be easier file sharing with Samsung Kies 2.0 software with support for PC and Mac computer systems.
Other functionality added with the software release is Swype, which is a virtual keyboard that you can re-size and move anywhere on the screen. There is support for wireless mobile printing with compatible printers.
To download the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi tablet update, users must visit Samsung’s customer service website and set up a Samsung account. If a customer already has a Samsung account, they must log in. When available starting on August 5, 2011, the company will give instructions on how to complete the software revision.
