PlayStation Network Status – Finally working across the United States
(Best Syndication News) Sony has finally re-opened their PlayStation Network throughout the United States. Late yesterday the service was only available in a few states, but today that has changed. All 50 states have service with a caveat.
“Notice: If your state is illuminated but your service has not yet been restored, please be patient – it can take a little while for the servers to populate fully,” the company said Sunday. “We will update users as soon as possible when the remainder of the service is accessible,” they added.
Also, not all services may be available yet.
On April 26, 2011 Sony announced that hackers had breached their firewall to obtain usernames, passwords, birthdates and other information. Their online gaming service was taken down while software engineers began fixing the problem. Now the company says the crisis is over.
The first thing customers will need to do is update their password and software. “On the PS3, you will be prompted to update to the latest system software,” the company said. “After you update, enter your Sign-In ID and password you will be prompted to change your password.”
If you are using a PC, enter your current password and username. The service will send an email to the account listed with that user. The email will contain instructions.
Customers who used a fake email address and birth date will need to contact customer service.
