(Best Syndication News) Sony’s announced that users of their PlayStation Network (PSN) will be required to change their password.

Some will receive an email with a link to change their account. “If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN,” Sony said in a statement Saturday May 14th 2011.

Besides a new password, the online gaming network will be updating their software and will require users to up-date their software (v3.61). This up-date is “mandatory”.

“We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online”, the company added.

On April 17th the PSN was attacked by hackers. Sony said that passwords and other information were stolen and the network was shut down a few days later.
