Meredith Vieira leaving NBC’s ‘Today Show’ on June 8

(Best Syndication News) - On NBC’s ‘Today Show', Meredith Vieira announced that she would be leaving the show with her last day on June 8, 2011. The reason for her departure was that it was family related, but did not give specific details. The replacement for Vieira will be fellow ‘Today Show’ news anchor Ann Curry. Natalie Morales will be replacing Curry’s news anchor position on the show.

Vieira said that she would miss being a part of the show. Matt Lauer said that Vieira was well respected by everyone both in front of the camera as well as behind the scenes. They also reminisced about her first day working at the show. Lauer also said that the show doesn't have that many changes of hosts over the years.

Vieira has been co-hosting the ‘Today Show’ for the last five years. Before working as co-host on the 'Today Show,' Vieira was a co-host on the daytime talk show 'The View.'
