California Death Toll from H1N1 Swine Flu Virus Grows - Americas hit Hardest

[Best Syndication News] The numbers of deaths are growing and the number of individuals that needs hospitalization for the H1N1 Swine Flu infections are also growing. According to the California Department of Health, there has been 3,556 H1N1 infected individuals that were hospitalized, and there was a total of 233 people that died from the Swine flu as of October 17th, 2009.

As of 09/26/09 the total number of deaths for San Bernardino County reported there was 8, with 100 people needing hospitalization. Riverside County reported they had 7 deaths and 48 hospitalizations from the Swine Flu. Orange County reported 18 deaths with 233 hospitalizations. Los Angeles County reported 33 deaths with 331 hospitalizations.

The CDPH no longer is asking the local health departments to report outpatient H1N1 cases but only the total number that are hospitalized. They are being asked to report Intensive Care Unit cases as well as deaths due to the H1N1 virus.

Health officials are only testing the severe cases for H1N1 virus that require hospitalizations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported as of October 11th, there has been 399,232 laboratory confirmed cases of people that have been infected with the H1N1 flu virus with over 4,735 deaths. These are the reported numbers are could very well be higher as the WHO covers the whole world. In the North and South American Continents WHO reports that total deaths at 3,406 people and are by far the highest death rates in the world compared to the other regions.
