[Best Syndication News] The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning today to be extremely careful when shopping for products that claim to diagnose, prevent, treat, or even cure the H1N1 influenza virus. The FDA recently did an investigation of several online products including Tamiflu (oseltamivir) which came from India.

The medicine that they received with a postmark from India had white tablets taped between two pieces of paper. They ordered oseltamivir, but when tested it they only found talc and acetaminophen. The website that they ordered from shortly after they ordered disappeared of the Internet.

The FDA also order four other products that are claiming to diagnose, prevent, treat or cure H1N1 virus from other websites as well. They said that some of the products did contain different levels of oseltamivir, but they were not approved for use in the US. They also said that a doctors prescription wasn't required when they ordered the Tamiflu like product.

The FDA said that because the items are being mailed it would take to long to arrive if a person was ill with the H1N1 influenza virus.

The FDA is asking that consumers only purchase FDA approved products from a licensed pharmacy that is located inside the United States. Mail order pharmacies online can also be legitimate operations, and they require prescriptions from a doctor.

The two drugs that the FDA has approved for the treatment of 2009 H1N1 Flu virus are Tamiflu (oseltamivir phosphate) and Relenza (zanamivir). You can find out more information about the H1N1 swine flu at www.flu.gov.
