Exercise Pioneer Jack LaLanne celebrates 95th Birthday

[Best Syndication News] Jack LaLanne is a pioneer for having an exercise TV show back in the 1950's. LaLanne is still in great shape as he celebrates his 95th birthday. He turned 95 on September 26th but had a public celebration in San Francisco. He is also out promoting a new book he has written called “Live Young Forever.”

LaLanne's exercise TV show aired between 1951 and 1985.

LaLanne was in San Francisco to celebrate his birthday because that is were he made did some of his dangerous physical stunts. He was born and raised in the city and is a part of the San Francisco history. When he was 41 years old he swam from Alcatraz to the shore of the city all while being handcuffed. When he was 60 he swam it again handcuffed but he also towed a boat loaded full of weights.

I tuned into Gilad's Bodies in Motion exercise TV Show on FitTV network to get in that morning's workout. Every once in a while LaLanne will stop by, but this week, being his birthday happened recently they played his guest shows again. Gilad would turn over the routine to LaLanne to get you moving. LaLanne was doing pushups (see video below of him doing the same pushups when he was younger) that most people have probably never done because they are so difficult on Gilad's program. On another Gilad show he had everyone lay down on the ground and stand up real quickly without using your hands. Out of humor, I tried to stand up fast several times without using my hands, and what a workout it was! I also had a few laughs at the same time. LaLanne reminded the viewers on the show that it was never to late to get physically active and fit.

According to Wikipedia, Jack LaLanne works out every morning for two hours. He will spend 1½ hours lifting weights and another ½ hour swimming or walking.
