[Best Syndication News] The search is over for the replacement of Paula Abdul on 'American Idol' with an unexpected replacement, Ellen DeGeneres.

Ellen DeGeneres announced the happy news on her daytime talk show about being selected as the replacement judge.

At first thought you think she might be pulling your leg, I mean she isn't in the music business, but after a while you think, yeah, she will lighten up the mood on the show and make it fun to watch.

On the fourth hour of NBC's Today show, Kathie Lee and Hoda reported the DeGeneres never missed an episode of 'American Idol' and she is a big fan of the show.

Even though DeGeneres is not part of the music business she is going to judge based on if the music is going to be liked by a consumer.

Paula Abdul Twittered he thoughts and she wishes only the best for DeGeneres and the show.

She Tweeted the following:

I think Ellen will b a gr8 judge on Idol. She is wildly funny, talented and I wish her the best of luck!
