[Best Syndication News] The Oprah Winfrey Show had an interesting show on today about people that were medical mysteries. One was a super tall 7th grader, another was a lady that had a unique form of dwarfism, and the last was a lady that had a photographic memory. All three guests were very interesting, and seemed to handle their differences fairly well in getting through their day to day routine.

The 7 ft Tall 12 Year Old

One of a kind medical mystery is of a 7th graders who stands 7 ft. 3 in. tall named Brendon Adams who is only 12 years old. He was born at a normal weight. About the age of 4 months he was getting taller than normal for his age. By the time he was in kindergartener he was the size of a 5th grader. He is the only person described with this condition.

His eyelids are overgrown and he has 12 extra teeth. They could never give them any answers as to why he was growing the way he was. Dr. Oz explained that it was a chromosome that split and flipped in utero and reconnected again. The family doesn’t know what to expect, but his mother said that she loves him more than anything.

He said that he wished people would see him as a normal person. His friend said that he is a normal person inside. Their house has been customized to have taller door jams and shower so that he can move around easier.

Dr. Oz visited Brendon at his home. Brendon said that he hopes for the best. Oprah asked if he was in pain, he said that he used to be. He said his knees and ankles used to hurt because he was growing so fast. He said that he does have a lot of friends. Oprah asked what are his greatest challenges. He said things like finding clothes that fit him is difficult and he shops online if he can find any thing in his size.

His mother said that Brendon is always very positive.

Dr. Oz showed a skeleton and a human bone and showed where the growth plate is located. He had a comparison of what his bone looked like next to a normal sized bone. He said that he hasn’t grown in about 6 month because the doctors induced puberty which stopped the growth process. That is why his voice has dropped.

He wears a Size 18 4 E shoe, he showed his closet. Most of his clothes is custom made. Brandon said that he is a fan of Shaquille O’Neal who stands 7ft. 1in. tall. Shaquille O’Neal surprised Brandon with a pair of his sneakers.

O’Neal was via satellite for the show today. O’Neal said that he is going to have his family fly out to Florida to meet him. In addition O’Neal has a tailor that is going to make him outfits. He said that he can consider O’Neal his best friend.

The Lady that has Primordial Dwarfism

The next segment was about Kristen Riley who stands 3 ft. 3in. tall. She said that she realized that she was different around first grade. She was born tiny. She had a rare form of dwarfism. Most dwarfs have large heads and torso, but she had proportional features. She had a rare version of dwarfism. She is learning to drive and has her car modified. She is 26 years old now, and she shops in the kids section. She is one of the oldest living primordial dwarfs. She is one out of 100 people that have this particular condition. Dr. Oz said that they don’t build collagen correctly. She is a miracle because she is proportionally smaller. Her brain is smaller but yet she is just as smart as a regular person. Dr. Oz showed a comparison of the bones for a comparison. She said that her hopes and dreams are to live normally like everybody else and to have a good job with financial security.

The Woman that Never Forgets and has a Photographic Memory

The woman that never forgets is the next medical mystery. Jill Price said that she has remembered almost everything that happened to her from the age of 14. They quizzed her on different days in the past. She was driving in her car and she was going through what she did on every birthday. Oprah asked why 14? She said that she could remember things in her earlier childhood, but at 14 she said that seemed to snap as to remembering every detail. When she was 12 she was sitting and studying for a science final, and she started to think about the year before and how great things were and what she was doing the year before. She started to realize that she was remembering things that others wouldn’t remember.

Oprah said that it can be a difficult problem because she can never let it go if she has a negative memory. She said that the emotions are also there with the memory. Oprah asked her what she was doing on different days. She said that she is not good at memorizing things, but she can remember things that happened. Dr. Oz added that there are different kinds of memories.

She told Oprah about her first week on the show. She told her about a Christmas show about a man that hasn’t seen his son in 50 years.

Oprah said that if she has a relationship does she pull up all the dates that they did her wrong. She said that she doesn’t do that.

Dr. Oz said that we tend to make memories and make it nostalgia so that it is not is bad to remember. Dr. Oz said that we don’t know how we remember exactly. We don’t know the details of memory. She wrote a book called “The Woman Who Can’t Forget.”

Dr. Oz said that exercise and mental exercise help to improve your memory. Eating fish and almonds which are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, consuming antioxidants by drinking coffee and red wine, and foods high in calcium, magnesium, and potassium all help to improve your brain function. Dr. Oz also learning a new joke or doing a magic trick can help improve your memory.
